Weaverville, NC_ Today’s insurance needs are more complicated than ever, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. “I had 16 years’ experience in the insurance industry before I decided to strike out on my own. I’d felt limited by working for one company. I wanted to offer the community more options and more flexibility,” says founder Stom Peterson. “It worked, since that was 20 years ago.”
While most insurance business is conducted online, current owner (Stom’s daughter), Eirene (Erin) still prefers when clients are able to visit personally (when possible). Masks can’t hide the big smiles or muffle the wisdom.
“The main thing I learned from my dad about insurance is fulfilling the needs of the community,” Erin says. “We understand that insurance can be difficult to understand, so we do our best to simplify it.”
Family-owned and independent, Peterson Insurance is celebrating their 20th anniversary. By representing several insurance companies, they provide multiple options to fit the needs and budgets of their community and hard-to-place risk policies. As a family, they understand the importance of legacy and how needs change over time.
The philosophy that community comes first continues today. The Petersons especially enjoy working with small businesses that are the heart of WNC and young families who have tight resources.
