Business Owner's Policy (BOP)

A BOP is a package that can cover businesses large and small — from chain fast-food restaurants, to someone with 30 rental homes, to a contractor building million-dollar houses. What fits depends entirely on your business and what you do. It bundles general liability and commercial property into one policy — usually at a lower cost than buying each separately.

BOPs can also be customized with add-ons depending on your industry:

  • Business interruption coverage
  • Data breach and cyber liability
  • Equipment breakdown
  • Hired and non-owned auto
  • Employee dishonesty

Business Insurance FAQ

At minimum, most small businesses need general liability and commercial property coverage. If you have employees, workers compensation may be required in North Carolina depending on your number of employees — and it's often required to obtain contracts. Depending on your industry, you may also need commercial auto, professional liability, or a business owner's policy that bundles several coverages together. We'll help you figure out what actually makes sense — not what a website tells you to buy.
A BOP bundles general liability and commercial property into one policy, often at a lower cost than purchasing each separately. It's designed for small to mid-size businesses and can be customized with add-ons like business interruption, data breach coverage, or equipment breakdown. If you're a storefront, office, or service-based business, a BOP is usually a smart starting point.
It depends on your industry, your revenue, number of employees, and the coverage you need. A small retail shop will pay differently than a contractor with a fleet of trucks. That's why we sit down with you and build a custom package — we don't do one-size-fits-all. We shop across multiple carriers to find the best coverage at a competitive price.
Yes. Contractors typically need general liability, workers compensation (if you have employees), commercial auto, and often a surety bond depending on the type of work and project requirements. Some jobs require specific coverage minimums before you can bid. We work with a lot of contractors in Western NC and can help you get everything in place.
Yes. If you're already a client, call us at 828-645-8777 and we can typically issue a certificate of insurance the same day. If you need one for a bid or a new contract, let us know the requirements and we'll get it handled.
